The standard I work to
I aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard most accessibility laws and guidelines refer to, including in the US, the EU and Spain.
What I’ve done
- Every page has a clear heading structure, a “skip to content” link and landmarks for navigation, so screen readers can move around easily.
- Everything works with a keyboard, and you can always see which link or button is selected.
- Text and important graphics meet the WCAG AA contrast ratios.
- Every image has a text description, and every form field has a label. Form errors are marked on the field and read out by screen readers.
- Buttons and links are large enough to tap on a phone.
- Pages work when zoomed to 200% and on small screens, without scrolling sideways.
- Animations are turned off if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Each page is marked as English or Spanish, so screen readers use the right voice.
- Pop-ups can always be closed with the ✕ button, the Escape key or a tap outside them.
- The PDF guides are tagged so screen readers can follow their headings and structure.
How I tested it
On 26 September 2026, I checked every page in English and Spanish, on desktop and phone screen sizes. Automated tests measured colour contrast, heading order, labels, image descriptions, tap target sizes, keyboard focus and layout stability, and I went through the WCAG 2.2 AA checklist. I fixed the issues I found the same day, and I check the site again whenever I make significant changes.
What I don’t fully control
Some parts of the service are provided by other companies. I choose tools with good accessibility, but I can’t change how they work:
- Booking calendar: Google Calendar appointment pages.
- Sessions: Google Meet video calls.
- Introduction video: played by YouTube. Its captions are generated automatically and may contain mistakes.
- Payments: the payment provider you choose.
- Reviews: the Preply, italki and Superprof pages I link to.
If any of these gets in your way, email me and we’ll arrange another way, for example booking by email or getting a guide in a different format.
Tell me if something doesn’t work for you
If you find a barrier on this website, or you need information in a different format, email me at mark.parfenov@gmail.com. Tell me which page and what happened. I usually reply within 24 hours, and I’ll make sure you get what you need, in a format that works for you.
